University Programme Information

eINFO (www.electronicinfo.ca) is a very useful site for locating the universities that offer the programmes you want to apply to, the admission requirements for those programmes and the cut-off average for last year; this website also contains information regarding scholarships, residence, campus visits and online addresses and phone numbers

- attend the information sessions with the university representatives who visit here

– students should plan a campus visit to the universities that are their top choices – programmes are available at March Break or can be arranged at any time by phoning the liaison numbers in eINFO

 

University Application Deadline

            – Ontario university application deadline is January 11, 2012

– students can apply to 3 programmes for $125 and additional programmes at a cost of $42/programme (but choose carefully);  applications will not be processed until payment is received

- maximum of three programme choices at any one university (including affiliates)

applications are completed online and we recommend completing the application prior to the Christmas Break

– each applicant requires a PIN number from OUAC (Ontario University Application Centre);  get yours from Student Services

 

College Programme Information

– the Ontario College Guide (www.ontariocolleges.ca) is very useful for locating the colleges that offer the programmes you want to apply for

College Application Deadline

          – Ontario college application deadline is February 1, 2012

students can apply to 5 programmes (maximum of 3 at any one college) and the cost is $95.00; applications will not be processed until payment is received

applications are done online and we recommend completing the application prior to the Christmas Break

– each applicant requires an OEN number for OCAS (Ontario College Application Service);  get yours from Student Services

 

Financial Assistance 

     A.    OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program)

–  includes a portion from the Canadian government as well as the Ontario government

– must be applied for online AFTER you have been offered admission and have accepted an offer of admission to a particular university (updated forms are usually available online in May or June)

– much of the information needed for this application is from your income tax return and your parents’ income tax return so OSAP applications cannot be done before your income tax return has been completed (income tax return due date is April 30th)

– in order to be eligible for the Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship, you must complete an OSAP application (even if you think you will be declined for OSAP)

- applicants who are the first in their family to pursue a university education may be eligible for an “Ontario First Generation Student Bursary”

     B.    Scholarships

– you can search scholarships online at www.studentawards.com , http://osca.ouac.on.ca/edlinks.htm , www.canlearn.ca , or www.scholarshipscanada.com

– scholarships may also be available through your work place or your parents’ workplace

- check out  scholarships available at the schools you are interested in applying to as well
